What Is Video Poker?
Video poker is a very popular casino game based on a computerized version of the famous five-card draw poker game, there are, however, other variations of the game.
The game is played on a computerized touch screen, one similar to that of a slot machine. The game begins when the player places a coin or scans a credit ticket into the machine. After the player places their bet they must press the deal button to receive their five cards, you then have the option of discarding any amount of your cards in exchange for the same amount of cards; you can choose to keep all of them (usually not the case unless you get really lucky) or you can discard all of them (not a smart move) and get a whole new set. Once you exchange your cards you are left with your final video poker hand. Video poker hands are usually ranked exactly the same as normal poker hands with the royal flush being the highest ranking hand and the high card being the lowest (most machines will only payout a minimum hand of a pair of jacks). After the draw, the machine will pay you based on the amount of money you inserted and the poker hand that you have; the higher the poker hand is, the more money you win.
The highest hand in video poker is the natural royal flush which is a royal flush that is obtained without the use of any wild cards. Someone who plays a machine consistently for an hour will usually hit one four of a kind, it will sometimes take days or even weeks before a player hits a royal flush, so dont hold your breath.
There are many variations of the game such as deuces wild or jacks wild. These video poker games allow you to use a jack or duce (2) as any card you want. The whole thing really is fun game to play; quick and easy with instant payouts. All you really have to do is choose what cards you want to keep and which ones you dont, after that the machine tells you what hand you have and how much you won. In the long run, most video poke machines dont pay back 100%. Usually, to receive 100% payback, a player must insert the maximum bet every time.
